Ooooh, do I have a good one for you today! Welcome back to another Tarot Tuesday. I know I have been hitting you hard with the intense cards lately, but let’s face it, they are especially relevant at the moment. I know that some of the scarier looking cards in the deck can inspire fear and a desire to just uhh, put that card away and draw another one, but that’s not what they’re for! Upon further inspection, none of the “scary” cards are as doomy and gloomy as their dramatic illustrations make them seem. Sure, challenging situations that force you to grow can be intimidating, but the whole point of reflection during these times is to learn the lessons that need to be learned to get stronger. So today we’ll be hanging out with the Hanged Man! (Or, as my other deck calls it, the Hanged Unicorn.)

Well hello there! Here we are again. Another day, huh?
Today in San Francisco, we received word that our stay-at-home orders will continue for at least another month. And while it has become clear that we are all sooo over being in time-out, it is also painfully obvious that we must continue all the good work we have put in to continue to “flatten the curve” so that we can keep our community as safe as possible during this crisis.
Yes, I am a full-time magical gal, but up until the shutdown, I have also been working as a full-time hairstylist. Like many others, I am currently in a super weird state of limbo, unable to go back to the salon until it is deemed safe by the powers that be. This is certainly a hardship, yet I know my focus must remain on what I can do. With uncertainty in the air and bad news everywhere, I know it is vital to support our community by continuing to put a little more magic in the world in any way I can. Hence the juicy morsels of enchantment served up on here daily.
As someone who has been researching and reading Tarot cards since childhood, I have been receiving a lot of requests for readings! This is certainly an excellent time for insight, clarity, and guidance — all things that a great Tarot reading provides. I would like to formally offer this as a service to anyone in need.
It is deeply important to me to be here for you for all your magical needs. I kindly ask that you consider making a donation for these services. Anything at all will help so much during this challenging time! My suggested donation is $10 per card; I offer readings for anywhere from one to eleven cards, your choice. Each reading will include a photo and a full write-up.
Please feel free to request a reading via either one of my Instagram pages: @californiawitchcraft or @unicornface, or using the form here. I am looking forward to connecting with you, and connecting you with your magic! Remember: I am here for you. I will always remind you that YOU ARE MAGIC. Talk to you soon!
Need guidance? Try these ancient techniques for receiving wisdom
Not that anyone ever truly has had it all figured out, but uh… it seems like literally everyone is currently asking the question, “What are we supposed to do?”
Let’s face it, we could all use a little guidance. As a species we are collectively experiencing something for which there exists no definitive guide. On a personal, governmental, and global level, we are figuring it out as we go. And that’s a little unnerving, to say the least! Few people find solace in uncertainty.
But this isn’t the first time in human history that we have faced the looming threat of the unknown. Perhaps in our modern search to connect with a greater guidance to answer our questions, we must look back to how magical humans of the past sought out wisdom during life’s challenges. Since the earliest recordings of human history, people have used various techniques to tap into higher wisdom.

Hello fearless warriors on the home front! Happy weekend, whatever that is! I have been hearing a lot of people talk about how they are struggling to maintain a routine in the absence of their regular schedule. To help myself adjust, I have been exploring a technique I first heard about years at ago at, of all things, a software conference. (I know, how very Silicon Valley of me.) Gamification, the practice of mentally framing life as if it were a video game, has since played a key role in maintaining my playful approach to life.
Continue readingWARNING: a change in consciousness is coming
Hey gals, ghouls, goblins, and Gs. There is something that has been weighing heavily on my mind and I feel called to share it with you. It is on the current state of our planet, and how it will shift our perception of EVERYTHING – or at least, how it ought to. My prediction: this current global pandemic is about to be the catalyst for a massive change in our consciousness.

Continue readingPSA: the earth needs a hug
I hope everyone had a wonderful Earth Day! If you’re still here, it sounds like it went pretty well! A thought occurred to me the other day, and at first I dismissed it as a stoner thought, but after more contemplation I realized there’s something to it. The earth needs a hug!

Greetings, earthlings! I hope everyone had a fabulous 4/20 4/20 from home. Word on the street is it’s a Tuesday, so here we are already again for another Tarot Tuesday! Continue readingA chill channeled message
Hello fantastical friends! This is for anyone who needs a sign right now that everything is gonna be okay. Coming down off a dream cloud, I am carrying a message from the universe to you!
Life isn’t about “will I be here tomorrow?”
Life is, “I am here NOW.”
I know it’s easy to get carried away in the what-ifs, but don’t let that take you away from the only thing you ever really have: being here right now. Don’t worry about what you will be, just BE. Don’t worry about how many breaths you’ll get to take – just take them. Every breath we take is a gift, not a promise. The dance of life revolves endlessly through cycles of becoming and unbecoming; it is how it always has been and always will be. By being here, you are being and breathing, and that is what you came here to do. So let yourself BE! That is what you came here for. As Ram Dass would say: BE HERE NOW.
Were the Salem witch trials caused by ergot-induced hysteria?
Happy Bicycle Day! On April 19th, 1943, Albert Hofmann ingested and discovered the effects of LSD. His strange bicycle ride home is what gave this day its name, and the rest is history! But if we look even further back into the strange story of the fungus that LSD was synthesized from, things get even wilder than a trippy ride on two wheels! In honor of these weird times, let’s sit down for a weird history lesson about the role of ergot during the Salem witch trials.
