Super Pink Moon?!?

No, it’s not a reference to my butt!

Tonight into tomorrow we will be experiencing the biggest, brightest, and most epic full moon of the year! This full moon will move to its closest point to the earth in its orbit, appearing extra huge and magical. (Hence the term “supermoon.”) I wish I could tell you it’s also going to turn pink, but that is just a term for this time of year’s full moon, named after the pink flowers that tend to pop up in early spring. Still, the Super Pink Moon is a powerful phenomenon, and a perfect opportunity to come together (in spirit) and raise our collective energy to contribute to a world in need. You are cordially invited to join me in a Super Pink Moon blessing ritual to help add healing peaceful energy to our atmosphere!

some peaceful plant programming to give your brain a break

I know we’ve been isolated from the outside world for quite some time, but is anyone else feeling bombarded? Especially for those of us with empathic tendencies, the heaviness of the world right now can easily feel like it’s settling on our shoulders. While I agree it is a reasonable thing to stay aware of our current situation, I think it’s also important to take regular breaks from all the news. I’m not a huge fan of spending tons of time watching TV, but I know it can feel nice to play something relaxing for a little while to take your mind off a reality that feels like it’s been taken over by the screenwriters of Game of Thrones. (Which I would NOT recommend watching for relaxation, by the way.) I kid you not, last night I felt a huge wave of empathic anxiety coming on, and totally chilled it the fuck out thanks to watching the following material. So to pay it forward and give all of our brains a much-needed break, today I’ll be sharing one of my go-to relaxation techniques: watching my favorite plant channels on YouTube!

crystal clear affirmations for cloudy times

Everyone still hanging in there out there? Hell yeah you are! I’m proud of all of you keeping your shit together as best as possible.

I’m a firm believer that thoughts become things, and your words “spell” out your reality. (“That’s why it’s called spelling,” said Ralph Smart, and I agree.) These past few weeks, so many changes have happened in the world around us, and there are many elements of our lives that feel out of our control. Even so, it is vital in times like these to create our own internal source of reassurance that we are strong enough to overcome the challenges coming our way. As we head towards the upcoming full moon on April 7th, it is crucial to turn our attention as much as possible to what we want to attract into our lives.

Zen and the art of the low carbon footprint

Welcome back to another strange night under the waxing moon! I went on a walk today, which is a thing most of us can still do as long as we stay a safe distance from other people. (I’ll admit, it’s kind of awesome for introverts.) Walking has always been my ideal method of transportation whenever possible, and if you haven’t discovered the joys of using your feet to get you places, now is the perfect time to make some lifestyle changes to bring you joy and reduce your carbon footprint! Yes, I’m kindly requesting that for health and sanity’s sake, you go for a walk.

It’s almost midnight and I’m thinking about breakfast because that’s just how things are these days so here’s my favorite recipe

Good evening, fellow witnesses of history! Does anyone else feel like if you tried to describe what’s going on in the world right now to yourself last year, you might laugh? A virus? A giant asteroid? Toilet paper? Tigers? What?

Anyway, now seems like the perfect time to contribute to the world of quarantine snack hacks by offering up my favorite at-home healthy breakfast, because even though I have eaten it pretty much every day since the start of this quarantine situation, I still find myself excited to eat it (even apparently at midnight the night before). It is so simple that I don’t really know if I can get away with calling this a recipe, because it’s really just assembling the ingredients, but hey! It’s super quick, easy, delicious, inexpensive, and healthy. It’s also vegan and gluten free, and makes me feel amazing. I call it a bomb breakfast bowl.

supplement your life! (with CBD)

Hello, fabulous creatures! I hope you guys are finding ways to seek comfort what with the crazy situation of the world and all.

Look, I’m sure most if not all of you have heard of CBD by now, and some of you might even be tired of hearing about it. Listen, I’m not here to make any extraordinary miracle claims about how CBD is going to save you from the pandemic. I’m just here to give a gentle reminder that it exists, and it’s worth looking into right now. After all, you can still get it delivered to your house!

To give the briefest overview ever, CBD stands for Cannabidiol, which is one of many cannabinoids, or compounds, found within the cannabis plant. CBD on its own is non-psychoactive and interacts with various receptors throughout our bodies to promote homeostasis, or ideal functioning. This is why it can have such a variety of benefits. And because it is so low-impact on the body, it tends not to have any side-effects or drawbacks. It’s perfect for when you just need a little something to take the edge off whatever you’re going through. And chill vibes = a magical life, so I’m here to spread the word.

Spring Equinox ritual: release the last shreds of darkness to let in the light

Happy Spring Equinox, magical friends! Today officially marks the end of long dark nights and the beginning of brighter days. As the forces of light and dark converge today to create an equal balance of night and day, this is a powerful time to release any lingering darkness so we can move freely forward into the light.

We are also operating under the last few days of the waning moon here – with the new moon coming up on March 24th – so now is the perfect opportunity to let anything you need to let go, GO. And get it out of here for good! The past has been quite a trip and the future might be looking a little murky, but the only thing in our control is how firmly we stand in the present. This is a chance to shake off any heavy barnacles weighing down the mind so that we can sail forward more smoothly. (Still feeling this Pisces season, anyone?) Sometimes when outside circumstances make us feel helpless, it is helpful to refocus ourselves on the things we still have the power to influence – in this case, in the form of magical ritualized meditation. Enter this simple ritual that will serve as a physical manifestation of our commitment to leave fear and doubt behind, and meet what comes from a place of strength.

heart opening

Act now: try this mini meditation today to reset your whole outlook on life!

What a week, world!

We are seeing so many rapid changes to life all over the planet. Here in San Francisco and much of the surrounding area, all residents have received a “shelter in place” order, which effectively means we have to stay at home for the next three weeks! (We are permitted to go outside to take a solo walk or do essential activities, but that’s about it.) These instructions come under undoubtedly scary circumstances, but seeing as the uncertain future is largely out of our control, we need to turn our attention to what we can do.

It is all too easy to succumb to fear in the face of the unknown. But who is that helping? It’s been scientifically proven that stress is crappy for your immune system. And whether you spend this time panicking or doing something productive, the time will pass anyway. We may not know exactly what lies ahead, but we know that we have this time to pause and collect ourselves. Life rarely takes such a significant pause. I hereby propose that we take this time to reflect and recharge so we can move forward with strength when the time comes. This time offers an opportunity to realign ourselves with what matters most.
