WITCHES AGAINST WHITE SUPREMACY

WITCHES AGAINST WHITE SUPREMACY

Hey guys, you know I usually try to keep things in more of an ethereal than worldly realm… But given the particularly horrifying issues of racial injustice coming to the forefront this week, it would feel horrendously negligent to not speak up.

WITCHES, WE MUST UNITE AGAINST WHITE SUPREMACY, RACISM, RACIAL INEQUALITY AND INJUSTICE.

My heart breaks for humanity this week. As a white person I know I can never fully comprehend the challenges of racial injustice black Americans face every day and have faced throughout this country’s ugly history. But I commit to do everything I can to help amplify their voices, spread awareness, and advocate for change.

In a time where our country is more divided than ever, we need to come together on this. Please take the time to raise awareness however you can, sign the following petitions, and donate if you are able to:

BLACK LIVES MATTER RESOURCES & INFORMATION

Originally this website was created with the intention to share witchy ways to make life feel more magical.

But you know what’s REALLY magical?

Making the world a better place. Contributing more love to the world. THAT is MAGIC.

So this is not just a witchy lifestyle blog anymore. It’s a chance to communicate the change that needs to happen in our collective consciousness. If we are truly to make life on earth magical, we must join together and stand up and WAKE UP!

We will be having some conversations here about how we can evolve our collective consciousness to a more compassionate level. And we will then be directing our efforts, magical and otherwise, to help manifest real positive changes on this planet.

It is also important to acknowledge that it is extremely fucked up that the indigenous people who were the original inhabitants of this land, the ones who ORIGINALLY appreciated its magic, have been so cruelly oppressed by our current governmental system.

I recognize the horrible irony of essentially being the beneficiary of a white supremacist system that kicked out the peaceful people who were previously worshipping this earth, resulting eventually in me ending up here, also worshipping the earth. That is FUCKED UP, dude.

So I am here to take a stand.

I am here to fight the cycles of oppression that have come before me and inspire, in any way I can, our modern collective consciousness to move towards peace.

I will no longer be here just taking up space and farting glitter. (Everyone does that though, right? Guys?) Instead I would like to wake as many others up as possible to the possibility of a more compassionate existence.

In addition to sharing what I know about magic here, I’ll be doing my best to make real magic happen by raising awareness for the causes we need to support to make the world a better place.

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, this land was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people. These peaceful people have been totally fucking ripped off throughout history. From the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust‘s website:

“Surviving through two centuries of persecution and genocidal policies during the Spanish, Mexican and American eras, Ohlone people continue to inhabit their ancestral homeland, the San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay areas.
From the establishment of Mission San Carlos in 1769 up to the present day, the Ohlone have been denied the right to exist as Indigenous peoples. Officially “unrecognized” by the US federal government as tribes, contemporary Ohlone communities have no reservations or protected land bases and receive none of the rights, benefits, compensations or protections afforded to Indian tribes under US laws.
Despite concerted efforts to erase Ohlone history and identity, Ohlone people continue to form a diverse and vibrant constellation of tribes and families. Utilizing a wide array of survival strategies to navigate a gravely altered 21st century world, Ohlone people continue to carry forward and revitalize cultural practices and uphold their responsibilities to protect and care for their ancestral lands.”

We cannot truly honor this beautiful earth if we do not also honor those who came before us.

The Sogorea Te’ Land Trust is an urban Indigenous women-led community organization that facilitates the return of Chochenyo and Karkin Ohlone lands in the San Francisco Bay Area to Indigenous stewardship. Sogorea Te creates opportunities for all people living in Ohlone territory to work together to re-envision the Bay Area community and what it means to live on Ohlone land. Guided by the belief that land is the foundation that can bring us together, Sogorea Te calls on us all to heal from the legacies of colonialism and genocide, to remember different ways of living, and to do the work that our ancestors and future generations are calling us to do.”

I haven’t quite figured out a spell to magically erase all the damage that has been done over the course of centuries of systematic oppression yet. (Spoiler alert: it’s not coming.) Instead, I will be using my voice and my magic to bring support to those who need it.

All proceeds from my Tarot readings will be directed to the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust and Black Lives Matter.

Because being a witch isn’t about fancy spells and using flickering candles for mood lighting.

Being a witch means making the world a more magical place. And that means standing up for those who have been and are still being oppressed.

We must continue to fight against the systematic racism that has dominated this country. I will be using this platform to raise awareness on the issues that need to be addressed to introduce more compassion to our current collective consciousness.

You have my magical oath that I will be actively working to ensure that every effort made here will be to support the communities that need it. I recognize that I have a lot of work to do here, and I’ll be the first to say I’m figuring things out as I go, but please know that this is only the beginning. Fellow creatures of our earth, you have my promise that every action I will take, every spell I will cast, will be done with the intention to benefit others.
